Unlike plants from which the oil is extracted, vegetable oils no longer contain useful substances (proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals), they are lost during the production process. And at the same time, oils are extremely high in calories: these are the most energy-rich foods.

Therefore, oils are a source of very large and at the same time empty calories, with which we do not receive any nutrients other than fat. Thus, by adding oil to a salad, we significantly increase its calorie content. However, these calories are found in a very nutrient-poor refined product.

At the same time, it is important to understand that we not only do not need refined fats, but can also harm us. It has been proven that it is the food, where even a drop of oil is excluded, as well as fish, meat and dairy products, that is the most healthy for heart diseases, allowing them to be reversed.

The addition of oil, even vegetable oil, harms the cardiovascular system.

Therefore, the Mediterranean diet is likely to bring relative benefits not because of the oil, as many believe, but in spite of it. And the most important thing in it is the emphasis on whole plants and the reduction in the content of animal food.

Thus, compared to the traditional diet, the Mediterranean diet is better. However, it is clearly worse than other diets consisting mainly of plants without added oil.

Therefore the best of options- stick to whole plant foods.

8 and 9. Low-carbohydrate and high-protein diets are a threat to health

Low carb diets are very popular right now. These include the Atkins diet and the keto diet. They suggest a high intake of protein, which comes mainly from animal foods, and do not limit fatty and dairy products.

Also, low-carbohydrate diets include high-protein diets - Dukan and Kremlin. They focus on protein, but limit the amount of fat.

And both types of nutrition - both low-carb and high-protein - radically limit carbohydrates. Therefore, they contain very few vegetables and fruits.

In the short term, low-carbohydrate diets may positively influence some risk factors for disease. They can also help you lose weight for a short period of time. However, no one has yet proven that they provide long-term benefits.

Why are low-carb and high-protein diets bad?

The problem is that these diets do not take into account the scientific evidence supporting the benefits of a high-carb, plant-based diet.

Nutritionists have serious concerns about the long-term cardiovascular health of people who follow a low-carbohydrate diet.

Also, according to the results of a large-scale study, it turned out that those who consumed the least carbohydrates had the highest risk of diabetes.

A diet low in carbohydrates and high in protein is associated with an increased risk of death, including from cancer. Furthermore,

a high-protein diet is the most dangerous for the development of cancer, since tumor growth on early stage can be initiated and suppressed by changes in the protein content of the diet.

A 5% protein diet has been shown to "turn off" cancer growth at an early stage, while 20% protein in the diet stimulates it.

In fairness, we note that there is a reasonable beginning in low-carbohydrate nutrition. To do this, remember that carbohydrates are "good" and "bad". "Bad" or processed carbohydrates that do not contain fiber, we get from refined foods - including starchy foods and sweets. Avoiding these carbohydrates will benefit your health.

However, in the heat of the fight for low-carb food, the difference between "good" and "bad" carbohydrates is sometimes forgotten. Unfortunately, these diets do not provide for the use of "good" carbohydrates - from whole plants. And the rejection of such carbohydrates leads to many health problems.

Eating, as suggested in low-carb diets, instead of the harmful carbohydrates of meat and eggs, snacking on meatloaf, ham and turkey, and drinking plenty of dairy products will not lead to anything good. A high content of animal food in the diet provokes the development of stroke, heart attack, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and other diseases.

10. Vegetarianism - Hidden Dangers

The last in the list of effective diets named by survey participants is a vegetarian diet.

Vegetarianism involves the rejection of meat foods (meat, poultry, fish and seafood), but most often involves the consumption of dairy products and eggs (ovolacto-vegetarianism).

However, the question of balance in this diet again arises, since vegetarianism is primarily defined as the rejection of meat food, but does not give clear instructions on how to make the diet healthy.

As a result, most vegetarians consume a lot of dairy products. But in terms of nutrient content, dairy products are very similar to meat products.

Dairy products are high in animal protein, animal fat and cholesterol. At the same time, they have a minimum of carbohydrates and no fiber. Therefore, in general, milk can be considered liquid meat - there are more similarities between them than differences.

Why Vegetarianism Isn't the Best Option

In one large study, the nutrient intake of vegetarians was remarkably similar to that of people who ate meat. The content of fats, vitamins and minerals was approximately the same, and some differences were found in proteins and carbohydrates. Quit alcohol - it's really important

The link between alcohol consumption and psoriasis has been scientifically proven.

    • Remember to exclude foods that Pegano banned.
  • If, for now, you are striving, but not yet ready to completely abandon animal food, follow the Pegano diet. It will help solve the problem of psoriasis and will definitely be more useful than ordinary modern food.

  • If you have gluten intolerance or celiac disease, although this is uncommon, avoid foods with gluten as well.
