For prevention purposes, testing for alcohol dependence is recommended at least once every six months.

Stages of alcohol addiction

Prodromal (zero) stage- there are no signs of alcoholism, a person periodically drinks alcohol in companies, while he rarely gets drunk to the point of memory loss and other serious consequences.

At the zero stage, it is easy to refuse to take alcohol without feeling mental discomfort. This is considered normal for healthy person. But with daily use, the prodromal period passes into the first stage of alcoholism after 6-12 months in men and after 3-6 months in women. On average, women's alcoholism develops twice as fast as men's.

First stage- characterized by the appearance of mental dependence on alcoholic beverages. Almost every day, the patient has thoughts of drinking, the mood rises in anticipation of drinking alcohol. When sober, there is a feeling of dissatisfaction with oneself.

At the initial stage, vomiting disappears with an overdose, a person is able to drink much more than before. There is a desire to justify their actions. On average, the first stage lasts from 1 to 5 years. Without treatment and limiting the amount of alcohol, it smoothly flows into a more neglected second stage.

Second stage- a pathological craving for alcoholic beverages occurs spontaneously, the ability to self-control drops sharply. In a drunken state, a person begins to behave unpredictably and even aggressively. In some cases, psychosis and hallucinations may occur. The second stage lasts from 5 to 15 years, gradually leading to complete degradation of the personality and loss of creative abilities.

Third stage- characterized by irreversible changes in the psyche, work internal organs(cirrhosis of the liver, hepatitis) and nervous system. Situational control is completely lost - a person does not care about the place, circumstances and the company of drinking companions.

The amount of alcohol consumed decreases, but its consumption becomes everyday or turns into binges. Physical dependence develops, which, if left untreated, sooner or later ends in death.

Almost everyone has consumed alcohol at least once in their life. But many, having tried alcoholic beverages once, do not stop there. Gatherings with friends, business meetings, club parties and homemade festive feasts are quite often accompanied by drinking alcoholic and light alcohol. alcoholic beverages. If you feel like your frequent drinking is giving you some cravings for these drinks, you can take a simple alcoholism test to help you determine if you have an addiction or not. It is important to do this as early as possible so that you yourself can stop at the right time and not start the disease, which is more difficult to cure in the later stages.

Testing features

Often the use of alcohol contributes to the formation of an insidious disease that develops gradually, imperceptibly to the patient and others. Usually, when close people begin to think about the treatment of such a person, he is already at such a stage of the disease that he cannot cope on his own, and he needs the help of specialists. Moreover, the development of the disease is very often accompanied by relapses.

Important: according to the WHO, alcoholism is in third place as a cause of death. It gives way only to cardiovascular diseases and oncological diseases.

The incidence of alcoholism among the female population is also growing. If earlier this number was only 10%, today it has grown to 30%. Moreover, in men, the disease develops in 7-10 years, while in women it takes only 5 years. The sooner a person stops drinking, the easier it is to cure.

However, it is difficult to identify the initial form of the disease in oneself. Psychology can help with this. If you want to find the answer to the question, am I an alcoholic, the test will help determine this. For the diagnosis of alcoholism, various methods are often used. psychological tests. With the help of the test, you can identify not only dependence on alcohol, but also find out the stage of alcoholism.

Dependency test

Testing for the definition of alcohol dependence will help identify the disease in nine out of ten alcoholics. To pass the test, you need to honestly answer several questions and calculate the number of points depending on the answers. By the total score, you can find out the transcript of the result. In order to detect the disease as early as possible and start treatment at the initial stage, it is recommended to undergo this test every 6 months for women and once a year for men.

  • for a positive answer to questions number 2, 3, 17, 18, as well as questions from 10 to 15 and from 21 to 24, you need to add to total amount 2 points each;
  • if you answered “yes” to items number 8, 19, 20, then add 5 points for each answer to the total number;
  • the answer "no" to items number 1, 4, 6, 7 brings 2 points each.

A passed test can give maximum amount points - 54. Depending on your total, the test result can be interpreted as follows:

0-6 points - you do not have an alcohol dependence. You can safely drink on holidays and occasionally with friends. This will not let you undermine your health. However, you should not get carried away and cross that fine line that will allow addiction to develop.

7-10 points - you probably have the initial stage of addiction. At this stage, it is common for you to often lose control over the dose of alcohol you drink, as well as to drink alcoholic beverages for no reason. Now the most best moment to stop, because after that the disease will go into the second stage, and you won’t be able to cope with your own efforts, you will need the help of specialists.

If there is no alcohol in your life, you become irritable, uncontrollable, your mood worsens. At this stage, failures in the functioning of body systems begin to appear. The person suffers from drunkenness. Appear mental disorders. You can stop drinking alcohol at this stage with the help of therapeutic techniques (hypnosis, coding, torpedo), but only in combination with psychological rehabilitation.

More than 19 points - you definitely suffer from a neglected form of alcoholism. Changes in the psyche and body acquire irreversible forms. A person completely loses the ability to social and labor activity. Without proper and correct treatment, the disease will inevitably end in death sooner or later.

Staging test

A person who has passed the first test can, based on the results, draw approximate conclusions about the stage of alcoholism in him. But in the presence of alcoholism in men and women, it is possible to accurately determine the stage of the disease with the help of the dough. In this case, you do not need to take the first test, the diagnosis of the stage of alcohol dependence can be carried out using the questionnaire below. You need to refute or agree with the following statements:

  1. If earlier you had to drink 200 g of alcohol to feel a mild form of intoxication, now you may need a whole bottle for this.
  2. The next day after the feast, hangover symptoms are sure to appear in the form of dizziness, fatigue, thirst and hand tremors.
  3. In order to wake up in the morning, you need to get drunk.
  4. You are not able to control the dose of alcohol you drink and stop drinking only when the alcohol runs out or consciousness turns off.
  5. Your behavior becomes inappropriate. You either lose control of yourself, get into fights, destroy everything around and become disoriented in space, or show sympathy for strangers.
  6. Memory losses. You do not remember what you did the day before while intoxicated. People around you tell you about it.
  7. binge. You can drink more than two days in a row.
  8. Decreased appetite. To eat, you just need to eat.
  9. Sleep is disturbed. You sleep a lot during the day, and at night you can’t fall asleep, that you are treating with alcohol. This makes the problem even worse.

  1. Silence scares you, there is excessive anxiety. In a drunken state, visual or auditory hallucinations may occur.
  2. You can get drunk from a small dose, and to get drunk, you need less and less alcohol.
  3. Personal degradation. You lost your job, your life is running. You do not care about your own appearance, the events around you. The main task in life is to get alcohol.

It doesn't matter how many times you answered "no", count the number of positive answers. Based on this sum, the results are evaluated as follows:

  • three positive answers - the first stage of the disease;
  • from 3 to 6 positive statements - the disease passes into the second stage and is in its initial form;
  • from 6 to 9 statements with which you agree - the disease has passed into a full-fledged second stage;
  • 9-12 positive answers - you suffer from the third stage of alcohol addiction.

An alcohol addiction test will help determine if you have an unhealthy addiction to alcohol. However, it should be remembered that only a doctor can make a diagnosis.

Symptoms for determining the stage of alcoholism

In addition to the test for alcoholism that exists for women and men, there are a number of symptoms that can help determine the stage of alcohol dependence.

The first stage of alcoholism includes:

  • difficulty controlling the amount of alcohol consumed;
  • irritability, aggressiveness and possible memory loss when intoxicated;
  • lack of a critical attitude towards drunkenness;
  • excuses for drinking alcohol;

The first stage of alcoholism gradually passes into the second, which has the following features:

  • increased tolerance to alcohol;
  • loss of control over drinking;
  • the appearance of physical dependence on alcohol and withdrawal syndrome, which is accompanied by headache, thirst, irritability, sleep problems, pain in the heart, tremor of the limbs.

In the third stage, symptoms such as:

  • increased craving for alcohol with a proportional decrease in control;
  • the appearance of mental, physical and social problems;
  • unconscious attraction to alcohol;
  • complete depletion of the body;
  • mental disorder leading to alcohol degradation.

If you find these symptoms, you should consult a doctor.

There is no need to prove once again how dangerous the intoxication of a person who is driving a vehicle is. And it doesn’t matter what stage it is in: driver’s drunkenness in any way is a source of mortal danger on the highway.

The number of motorists "under a degree" especially increases on holidays and after holidays. Knowing this, law enforcement agencies are persistently looking for effective ways detection of violators of the law. One of these means of struggle was the alcohol intoxication test, widely used in the practice of the traffic police.

However, errors or even deliberate abuse by traffic inspectors, which may occur during the testing of the driver's blood alcohol content, cannot be completely ruled out. Therefore, in order to avoid serious troubles, it does not hurt for all road users to know the procedure for checking and the rules of conduct at the same time, the main legal acts on the basis of which all these actions are carried out, as well as the formula for determining ppm - an indicator of the concentration of alcohol in the blood.

Examination for alcohol: basic documents and acts of the traffic police

Bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation conduct checks of drivers for the presence of alcohol in the blood on the basis of two documents that regulate all relevant procedures. The first one is the “Administrative Regulations for the Execution of the State Function for Control and Supervision of the Compliance of Road Users with the Requirements in the Field of Ensuring Road Safety”. This document defines the behavior of police officers during traffic control.

The second act - "Rules for the examination of a person who drives a vehicle for alcohol intoxication." This document regulates medical and legal actions against drivers of vehicles who are suspected of having consumed alcohol while driving.

According to these Rules, the test for alcohol intoxication is carried out both individually and during special raids.

Alcohol state test: degrees of intoxication

In medical practice, alcohol intoxication is classified as a psychopathological syndrome. Its picture depends not only on the amount of alcohol consumed, but also on the conditions and environment that accompany the feast, the time elapsed since the libation, the psychological mood of the drinker and his biological state.

For road safety, such features of this condition as an obvious or subtle change, inhibition of natural human reactions, inadequate behavior of the driver, the level of ppm in the blood of which exceeds the permissible limits, are important. Moreover, if for doctors drunkenness is clinical case and its course depends on, then in legal terms these degrees do not have special significance- no level of intoxication above the minimum permitted does not relieve the driver of responsibility.

Nevertheless, this or that level of intoxication of the body with alcohol affects human reactions in different ways. Especially noticeably makes itself felt alcohol while driving. So, after drinking a mug of beer in the actions and habitual behavior of people who are distinguished by poise and slowness, any deviations are practically not noticeable.

At the same time, in the case of a potion concentration in the blood of 0.5 mmol / l, the driver's ability to quickly assess the situation on the road and adequately respond to it drops by more than 30%. This occurs even in the absence of visible mental and physiological abnormalities. Accordingly, this ability decreases the more, the higher the speed of the car, the more difficult the situation on the track and the stronger the degree of intoxication.

To date, there are three degrees of alcohol intoxication in human behavior:

  1. Easy degree. The concentration of alcohol in the blood is in the range of 20-100 mmol / l (20-100 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood). In this state, a person has an improvement in mood, talkativeness, increased emotionality, some imbalance of attention, and a certain underestimation of self-criticism.
  2. Average degree. Concentration - 100-250 mmol / l. It is characterized by inhibition of thought processes, unproductive decisions and actions, significant inadequacy of assessments, and noticeable incorrectness of speech. A person in the middle stage of intoxication most often becomes sullenly indifferent to what is happening around him, or begins to show his anger and irritability towards others.
  3. Severe degree. The amount of alcohol in the blood is 250-400 mmol / l. In this state, the patient is in a depressed mood. Severe depressive manifestations and seizures similar to epileptic ones are not excluded. It should be borne in mind that higher concentrations (up to 700 mmol / l) are fraught with respiratory paralysis and death.

Permissible level of alcohol intoxication for drivers

Currently in the territory Russian Federation there is a norm of the permissible level of alcohol in the blood, equal to 0.16 mg of ethyl alcohol per 1 liter of air exhaled by a person. In the old ppm system, this corresponds to a value of about 0.3 ppm.

This threshold has been in effect since September 1, 2013. Prior to that, since 2010, there was a zero ppm limit, which meant that the driver had to drive in a state of absolute sobriety. In reality, it was almost impossible to achieve such an indicator.

Permitting a minimum level of alcohol in the driver's body does not mean permission to drink spirits while driving.

In order to avoid unnecessary temptations for motorists, in parallel with the introduction of this norm, sanctions were tightened for violation of the relevant law on motor traffic. The degree of violation is determined by a special test for the presence of alcohol in the blood of the driver.

Basis for detailed alcohol testing

The above documents and acts determine that the level of sobriety of a motorist is checked by a traffic police inspector in cases where the latter suspects that the driver’s body is affected by alcohol intoxication (residual intoxication should also be included here). There are five such cases:

  1. During the test, a distinct alcoholic odor emanates from the test subject's mouth.
  2. The driver has a violation of normal coherent speech.
  3. The skin of the face drastically changes its natural color.
  4. A person behaves inappropriately in a real situation.
  5. The posture of the person being checked at the time of checking his condition is characterized by instability.

Preparatory stage of the alcohol test

Before testing for the presence of alcohol in the body of a driver who is suspected of drunk driving, he must be deprived of the opportunity to drive a vehicle. In this case, a protocol (act) is drawn up indicating the date, time and place of removal of the driver from driving, the reasons for this decision, as well as data on the driver's vehicle. The document, which must be drawn up in the presence of at least two witnesses, indicates information about the traffic police officer who issued this protocol.

During the preliminary stage, the inspector must describe in detail to the motorist the upcoming inspection procedure. At the same time, before starting the test, the traffic police officer is obliged to show the driver the measuring instruments (alcometer or breathalyzer) sealed in accordance with all the rules. This measuring instrument must have a certificate of its technical condition and suitability for its intended use.

It should be noted that any test for alcohol intoxication must be carried out in the presence of two witnesses. Every motorist should know these simple rules in order to avoid possible falsification of test results by any of its participants.

Determination of the ppm level on the spot

A test for the presence of alcohol in the driver's body and determination of the level of ppm can be carried out either at the place where the vehicle stops, or - in the absence of the necessary devices - at the nearest traffic police post.

At the beginning of the procedure, the inspector must show the driver a disposable mouthpiece in a special hermetically sealed package. The mouthpiece is installed on the breathalyzer, after which the device is turned on in test mode. This mode consists in the intake of air from the surrounding atmosphere. If the equipment is OK, the "Alcohol not detected" indicator should light up.

Since the driver of the vehicle is primarily interested in the objectivity of the readings of the device, when the phrase “Alcohol content ... mg / l” appears on the display of the breathalyzer, the subject should be required to re-test the equipment itself, replace the mouthpiece or even the device itself.

The inspector must present a table of the ratio of the actual readings of the device and the amount of alcohol consumed by the driver. Depending on this ratio, the ppm level is set.

It is worth noting the importance of a careful approach to these procedural "trifles". Without this, there is a risk of running into fraud by dishonest employees law enforcement. There are cases when, in the pursuit of unrighteous gain, falsifiers in uniform resorted to injecting alcohol into the mouthpiece or putting a cotton swab moistened with alcohol.

After the motorist exhales (before the sound signal appears) the air into the mouthpiece of the breathalyzer, he should see the test results himself. After that, an act of examination of the driver for the state of alcoholic intoxication is drawn up in triplicate - for the driver, the traffic police inspector and for the archive. It is necessary to make sure that all data entered in all copies of the act are identical.

It is recommended that you pay special attention to completing this very important document. In particular, all columns containing numerical indicators should be filled out not only in numbers, but also in words, so that in the future it would not be possible to falsify the reading of the ppm level by adding the “necessary” zeros.

It is allowed to re-check the alcohol content in the driver's blood. The main (final) result in this case is the second result. But if the second test (naturally, with a new mouthpiece and with a repeated test air intake) was carried out not 20 minutes after the first, as it should be according to the rules, the readings of the device in this case can be challenged in court.

If, at the end of the test, the display shows an inscription like “Alcohol content ... mg / l”, and the motorist absolutely does not agree with this result, he has the right to demand an examination in a specialized medical institution. In this case, the act drawn up at the place of the test must contain a written disagreement with the test results and the requirement for a medical examination.

Factors distorting breathalyzer readings

The air exhaled by a driver during an alcohol test must not contain the following substances:

  • residues of alcohol in the oral cavity;
  • medications containing alcohol;
  • tobacco smoke;
  • sputum;
  • saliva.

If a person smoked before the instrumental examination, the test should begin no earlier than 5 minutes after the end of smoking. You should also make sure that the tested driver approached the breathalyzer no earlier than 15 minutes after taking the alcohol-containing medicine.
