Review of CS: GO - all the best from the world of shooters. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS GO) - game review Cs go game review

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is another, after Counter-Strike: Source, attempt to freshen up the popular shooter that started as a Half-Life mod. And as shown by the five years that have passed since the release, this attempt turned out to be very successful. True, in 2017, pubga began to step on the heels of the "counter" - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

In the games of the Counter-Strike series, terrorists and special forces oppose each other, receiving a cash reward for each killed enemy in order to buy new barrels, grenades and armor in the next round. In CS: GO, the list of available weapons was expanded with a Molotov cocktail, a false grenade, an IMI Negev light machine gun, Tec-9 and PP-19 Bizon submachine guns, Mag-7 and Sawed-Off pump-action shotguns, and a Taser stun gun.

There are six main modes: "Training", "Classic", "Competitive", "Arms Race", "Destruction of the object" and "Fight to the death". "Competitive" is a complicated classic, where friendly fire and collisions are enabled (you cannot pass through allies). In Arms Race, you need to get to the most powerful weapon faster than others, getting a new one after each kill. In "Destruction of the object", the terrorists win only after the successful detonation of the bomb, and the SWAT team - after it is defused. As for Deathmatch, this is a standard multiplayer mode where everyone fights for himself, and not as part of teams.

The base seven maps in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are redrawn classic levels like Aztec, Nuke, Inferno, Italy, Office or the legendary Dust2. All of them have grown in detail, but are recognizable at first sight. And what's interesting - appearance fighters depends on their weather conditions. So on the snow maps, special forces and terrorists run in winter jackets, and on hot Dust2 in lighter clothes.

However, the main innovation in CS: GO is weapon skins, which can even earn real money. There is not much information on the Internet about how it all works, but we still tried to collect everything that is known, especially for you.

What are skins and where can I get them?

Skins are unique weapon skins. In 2013, one of the updates introduced cases with skins. Cases are awarded for successful play in Global Offensive, but keys are needed to open them, which can be purchased from the in-game store. What kind of skin will fall out is unknown. Another way is to buy used skins in the game itself or in one of the third-party stores.

What do skins give to their owner?

The standard coloring of machine guns, pistols and knives is boring. And with skins, the weapon looks more elegant. In theory, this is only a cosmetic effect, but sometimes there are camouflage colorings that, in theory, can make the player a little less noticeable on some maps. And there are also skins that have a built-in kill counter (it resets after the sale).

Is it true that the purchased skin is gradually erased?

Skins wear out as they are used in matches, but they cannot completely disappear from weapons (they will rather become invisible). The degree of wear seriously affects the price for sale in the secondary market. True, some players even like slightly worn coloring pages - this gives authenticity.

Why are some skins valued more than others?

Almost all skins that drop out of cases are the result of the creativity of players who know how to work with graphics. Before getting into the game, they go through a special selection, which determines the level of quality. The higher the candidate is rated, the rarer category he will fall into (which means that he can be sold more expensively).

How to make money on skins?

There are four main ways: selling dropped skins, reselling or exchanging others and creating your own.

If a player gets a rare or unnecessary custom coloring, then he can put it up for auction in the game itself or on one of the third-party stores. In the first case, the proceeds from the sale will remain in the Steam wallet, and in the second case, they can be withdrawn to a bank card (this is completely legal).

When reselling, the player will have to monitor the movement of prices in the market and buy profitable offers in order to wait for increased demand and stay in the black. And when exchanging, you can get rid of a bunch of “cheap” items that fell out, replacing them with one thing, but valuable. That is, the resale of skins in the latest Counter-Strike is a kind of game on the exchange, and the exchange of skins is a kind of trading.

As for creating your own skins, for this you need to own Photoshop, have a sense of taste and a little luck - then the work will be approved for addition to the game, and the creator will receive a percentage of the sale. There are even legends among CS: GO fans about artists who draw two skins a month and earn hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is an online shooter, and an online shooter requires a stable 60 frames per second so that success in the game depends only on your skills and reactions. If on your computer to achieve the above bar you have to reduce the beauty of the picture, then try our service. The cloud gaming platform is designed to solve problems and save players from having to buy expensive hardware.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a legendary shooter with many fans

It looks like it came from another dimension.

This game is not something that should not exist - it simply is not needed. PC users (according to SteamGraph, thousands of them) were quite satisfied Counter-Strike: Source and CS 1.6, which have been polished for almost decades and received a lot of attention from the players.

However, CS:GO exists, and it is stupidly filled with clones of the Desert Eagle pistol and the de_dust map, which suggests a gap in the space-time continuum. Suddenly the game industry of a parallel universe mixed with ours?

Playing CS:GO is like going to a high school reunion. Changes are immediately noticeable: they have grown old, cut their hair, changed clothes, in the end. But it even gives pleasure: these are all the same people you knew!

In other words, familiarity with CS:GO is both good and bad. Even minimal deviations from the CS classics immediately catch the eye. MP-5 is now called MP-7, but it's still the same "don't kill me plz, that's all I could buy". TMP has now replaced MP9. Ragdoll physics no longer causes eyes to bleed upon death. And for some reason, you can’t attach a silencer to the M4.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - a logical continuation of previous versions of Counter-Strike

However, weapons are not so bad. Of course, you can live a full life without the exact restoration of the MP5 from the beginning of the 2000s, but it’s not mindless copying that soars much more, but the system of interaction between players. Changes in it are subtle, but they are. If you shoot someone in GO, they won't even flinch. Yes, the blood is gushing, the sound is appropriate (if the distance allows), but he will continue to stand motionless. What made the developers remove this animation is unclear.

Because of this, it is very often unclear whether damage is being done to the enemy or not - especially at long distances. That is why the so-called tracers become indispensable: they allow you to see the trajectory of a bullet for a few more milliseconds. When shooting with a rifle or SMG, you can easily get distracted from the enemy and the scope, which you need to keep an eye on in order to try to understand where the bullet hit from the smallest and slowest effects. A slight advantage of tracers is that they make this task easier.

Changes in de_dust 2.0

The game pleases with a variety of weapons for every taste

Changes made to existing maps are done carefully and wisely. The glass is less transparent, so don't expect to be an easy sniper in areas like the main hall on cs_office. And just one added staircase on de_dust decently expands the possibilities of terrorists, allowing you to use this place as a trap. Moving Bomb B closer to the center of the map makes it not a good idea for counter-terrorists to hide on their respawn.

Considering these pretty good improvements to the old maps, it's hard to understand why the "new" mode and the new maps in general are so boring and mediocre. In general, half of the 16 maps are new, but they are all locked for the arms race (which is a reworking of the GunGame mod made by fans) and destruction modes (the same GunGame, but without insta-spawns and with bomb damage).

After fifty hours, these mods, by the way, can be closed to hell. "Valve" usually did a great job with their games - Scavenge in Left 4 Dead 2 or payload in Team Fortress 2 examples of this. However, this is clearly not the case here. GO mods look very boring, safe, undeveloped, as if the developers have run out of imagination. We have already seen all this. But it would be great to see a redesigned VIP mode. Yes of course it is headache- if the VIP does not know how to play, then they will hate him forever, risky. But it would be just mind-blowing to see it with modern graphics!

In the game, each team must complete a specific task.

And yes, since we have already touched on the topic with new cards, we must finish it. Well ... In principle, purely aesthetically they are tolerable. de_bank is reminiscent of the battle around Burgertown in Modern Warfare. On de_lake and de_safehouse, you can arrange a confrontation both in a multi-storey building and in the area around it. But tactically, they only repeat the parent maps - and no more. Some of them are just cropped (for example, de_shorttrain is just an amputated piece of de_train) and made for dumb meat action, which is more like call of duty.

What's really unfortunate is that valve and hidden path we missed a great opportunity to add classic maps - something that could replicate the legendary Office, Italy, Dust, Dust2, Aztec, Inferno, Nuke and Train. They could spruce up lesser-known but still beloved maps like cs_estate or cs_crackhouse. But instead... Those eight locations that we were given are more like paintball arenas - too fast, relatively fun, but completely frivolous. There is no sense of seriousness. These cards lack something special, some goal, or, at worst, at least some tactical complexity of their predecessors.

Outcome

The game pleases with improved graphics

Even with these dubious fixes and mediocre new maps, GO is still Counter-Strike with its awesome moments. Be offensive with P90. Be the last survivor and feel like your teammates are looking over your shoulder, and placing all their hopes on you.

The feeling that each kill increases the safety of both you and your comrades. Knife fight for your honor. Accidentally blind your team with a flash grenade thrown in the wrong place and kill everyone with it. Yes, it's still included.

CS:GO is like a ticket to the past for 15 bucks. It still retains the tradition of "Counter" as a game built on competition, in which you need to carefully monitor tactics and cooperate smoothly. Still a game in which it is important to choose the right position and the right moment to attack, to correctly assess: is this step worth the noise reproduced? This is still one of those modern shooters where there is no locked content and a focus on secondary shooting modes.

CS:GO retains the tradition of "Counter" as a game built on competition, in which you need to carefully monitor tactics and cooperate smoothly

There is also something that rejuvenates this game that millions have been playing for twelve years now. For example, a new scoreboard, which is an overview of both the server and the team. Beginners can practice on bots offline. And although the new types of weapons do not look very good in places (something resembles children's toys, something is generally stupidly the same), it's very cool that they worked out several character models for both terrorists and counter-terrorists. And not in words, but quite realistically - they sound and look completely different.

And the new weapon, by the way, is not so bad, despite its secondary nature. For example, PP-Bizon is a cheap SMG. The MAG-7 shotgun fires and reloads very slowly, but is deadly to the point of horror. And it's great that heavy guns, which used to be neither in the village nor in the city, are now even irreplaceable in some situations. Incendiary grenades and Molotov cocktails also fit perfectly into the overall concept, because they turn into an impenetrable wall of fire that can cut down even the most ingenious enemy tactics in the bud.

Video review of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Summing up, we can only say one thing: go, go, go! It remains to be hoped that the community will come up with and create something for maps and modes that the developers themselves did not bother to finish. Zombie mod has already been done - and it's quite good.

today will tell you about, perhaps, one of the most popular games of the early 2000s - Counter strike, which came out way back in 2000. Counter Strike game, and among the people simply “contra” - has become the most common network game that has captured the Internet and game clubs. However, with the development of broadband Internet, Counter Strike first moved to the computers of the players at home, and then appeared Counter Strike: Source, and at the end of 2013 Counter Strike: Global Office.

Overview of the game Counter Strike

Now with all modern shooters warfare, crysis, call of duty, Battlefield, the players have already forgotten what it is Counter Strike 1.6- perhaps the most popular esports discipline of the early 21st century.

If we talk about weapons, then the symbols of Counter Strike, of course, are two: Colt M4A1 counter-terrorists (high accuracy and accuracy, sufficient shot power, the ability to install a silencer and a low price) and AK-47 terrorists (less accuracy than the M4, but greater shot power, there is also no silencer)

Game Counter Strike 1.6 released September 15, 2003. From this link you can Download cs 1.6.

If you can not start the gameCounterStrike- compare the characteristics of your PC with system requirements: OS Windows XP, 500 MHz or faster processor, 96 MB random access memory, video card 16 MB, 500 MB free hard disk space.

Pros: nostalgia, simple gameplay.

Minuses: 10 year old chart.

GAME FORMULA

This summer Counter strike turned thirteen years old. "Contra" began with a modification to half-life, built on pure enthusiasm, but now it is one of the main disciplines of eSports. And for us - without exaggeration, the most "popular" eSports equipment.

Although in nature there are fresher and prettier versions of Counter for a long time, players still will not lag behind the antediluvian CS 1.6. She is the most correct one. Therefore, on Global Offensive they shouldered an almost unbearable burden: to prove to retrogrades that new things can also be good. And correct.

Headshot him in jug!

Counter-Strike fans are a special audience. Many of them are still arguing about the superiority of version 1.5 over 1.6, what can we say about a complete remake on a new engine! The last attempt to replace the obsolete 1.6 happened in 2004 and rather failed: Counter-Strike: Source she looked great and sported believable physics, but esportsmen vehemently rejected her. And they run here, they say, not like that, and grenades do not fly like that ...

Source and GO share eight years. Valve had plenty of time to weigh, comprehend and craft a sane remake in which everything would be right. And therefore, the basic concept in GO has not moved a millimeter: two teams of five (or more) people, "villains" and fighters against terrorism. Fight to the last survivor. Terrorists mainly have fun blowing up key points and holding hostages, while the "forces of good" are trying to free the hostages, and neutralize the bomb and its owners. And by no means the other way around.

The secret of Counter-Strike's popularity is in its simplicity (although there is always room for honing skills), so it would be foolish to expect skills, pumping and manned vehicles in GO. Bought weapons at the beginning of the round and run, sieve enemies - much easier! There is not even a right-click aiming mode: we shoot on the move, the old fashioned way.

The radial menu for buying weapons and equipment is much more convenient than the lists of guns from 1.6 and CS: Source. In the illustration, by the way, the AWP rifle, popularly nicknamed the “elephant fighter” for its deadly power. In Global Offensive, players will find the most diverse arsenal in the history of Counter. Here it is - almost in its entirety hung on the wall.

Twice as much terror!

There are now four main modes - this is an official record for CS. To classic fun in the format " hold or save the hostages" or " plant or defuse explosives» attached ex-modification gun game which is henceforth called arms race". All players on the map start the fight with pistols, and for kills they instantly get more powerful "guns". The one who first scored a frag from each cannon (in total - 26 pieces) and stabbed the last victim with a knife wins the round.

You can only win the "Arms Race" by stabbing the enemy with a special "golden knife".

The second novelty - Object destruction". This is a two-minute blitzkrieg for two teams. One tries to blow up a key point, and the other prevents it. Troubles take place on ba-a-a-honky maps, where there are a lot of jumps and "camper" positions. These locations are painfully similar to network maps from Modern Warfare. And in terms of dynamics, the action looks like a regime domination from Unreal Tournament. There is only one control point on the map - each team must get to it first and hold it.

Even in Global Offensive (for the first time in CS!) there was a training mode. " briefing» teaches how to handle bombs, shoot through cover and quickly switch between a pistol and an assault rifle. One thing confused: the weapons course and especially the obstacle course are strongly reminiscent of the same Modern Warfare. Tribute to fashion, not otherwise.

Hands remember

The shabby and shabby AK-47 retains the title of a heavy-duty machine gun, from which only the pros can shoot accurately.

The old modes are now available in two variations: simpler and "as it should be". A friendly "casual" mode disables shooting at teammates, allows you to pass through them and provides both sides with free armor. In the “correct” mode, they don’t make such concessions, but they reward more generously for murders and constantly keep them in suspense.

Maps are familiar to everyone from the beta version of CS, and from CS 1.6 and CS: Source. Italy with its narrow streets and nervous hens, the memorable hanging bridge and sewerage ditch on Aztec, the urbanized Office with business hostages in ties, the tandem of the Middle East Dust and Dust2, as well as the common championship trio of Train, Inferno and Nuke.

All of them are traditionally divided by tasks, and for some reason there are only two hostage cards - Office and Italy. The hit Militia were left behind (and I didn’t miss a single version of CS!), Assault and Estate. But it is likely that they will return in updates. Together with the zombie mode, the release of which was planned to coincide with the release of the game.

According to legend, Left 4 Dead appeared just thanks to Counter-Strike. One small modification banned the bots from using firearms and only armed them with knives. Doomed to rush into close combat, the bots were very reminiscent of the fast zombies from L4D. And so the concept of the popular zombie shooter was born: machine guns and shotguns against claws and teeth. And many years later, CS repaid kindness for kindness.

Global Offensive features two maps modeled after the L4D campaigns. On the first - a copy of the swamp village from Swamp Fever (L4D2). Observant players will also notice a small yacht from The Sacrifice campaign here. Another map directly cites the episode Death Toll (L4D): there is a lakeside house where the fighters with the infected had to defend themselves until the rescue ship arrived.

And this is not the first game crossover involving Valve. A couple of months ago, a cooperative thriller Payday: The Heist acquired the No Mercy campaign, which indirectly touches on the theme of the “green flu” from L4D. I wonder what it is: an ordinary fan service or the beginning of the global multiverse named after Gabe Newell? ..

5-1, 4-4, 3-1 and other favorites

The Aztec map is now more than ever true to its name. A real sacrificial temple appeared on it!

GO refused to follow the fashion: there is no leveling outside of the battles, and the parties start each fight on equal terms. Money in CS is earned by killing enemies and tactical maneuvers like planting a bomb or rescuing hostages. At the beginning of the round (the party consists of several), weapons, armor and grenades are purchased with blood money. Hot new items have debuted among the latest: Molotov cocktails and flammable grenades, with which it is easy to block corridors and set fire to careless militants.

They come with fake grenades that mimic the sounds of the thrower's weapon - which can be useful, because experienced players often focus on sound. In addition, the Zeus x27 electric shock appeared, killing at point-blank range with one blow. The only problem is that it's disposable. If you miss, the shocker will be wasted, and the fighter will be left empty-handed. For a couple of moments, but still... Online, such a delay is enough for the enemy, so the benefits of "Zeus" are still extremely doubtful. But death from him is almost more humiliating than from a knife.

Back to Orcs

The pros are swearing again, everything is not the same for them, not like before ...

Nevertheless, "loyalty to tradition" is the main feature of GO. This is both an advantage and its main disadvantage. In fact, we got the same CS: Source with improved graphics, physics and integration with current Steam services. Plus - updated maps and an expanded arsenal. The developers have combined modern technologies with nostalgia for the old CS, but they did not invent anything fundamentally new.

SWAT is ready to free the hostages on the Office map. By the way, you can play tricks on it: for a dozen windows shattered during a round, they give a special achievement.

GO really takes you back to the past. It’s as if the last twelve years didn’t exist and you are again at the beginning of the 2000s. You sit in the smoky room of the first computer club in the Russian Federation "Orki", nervously wondering how much time is left and whether it's time to go home. And above the ear there is a cry: “The elephant-foot guards the gut!” ...

By the way, translated into Russian, this means "the owner of a heavy sniper rifle shoots through the ventilation shaft." And if you already understood everything without translation - welcome home.
