DIY fur coloring

Usually, the fur is dyed in dark colors - black, brown or dark brown. Because then the fur defects will be less visible. In addition, this is the basic rule for coloring fur - you can only dye it in a darker color.

Don't worry - this procedure is no more complicated than

All fur dyeing operations are done only in special longboats stainless steel or plastic barrels. There are two main methods for dyeing fur:

  1. Dyeing with oxidative and acid dyes.
  2. Toning.

The first way is the most common. Firstly, it is cheaper, and secondly, the fur is dyed in this way at lower temperatures. Fur dyed with oxidation dyes has a greater sheen compared to fur dyed with acid.

Stores now have special sprays for coloring fur products. But you should know that such a method will inevitably stain everything that the fur touches. Below you will see a video where the craftswoman managed to work great with hair dye.

Important:

Before you dye the fur with your own hands, you need to check tannability of skins for welding temperature. The old skin may simply not withstand painting and fall apart during painting. The quality of fur dyeing largely depends on the ability of dyes to penetrate deep into the hair. The coloring solution does not penetrate well into the structure of greasy and dirty hair. To do this, you need to kill the skin.

Natural fur products will never go out of fashion. And all because they are not only warm and comfortable, but also expensive and stylish. A real fur coat or vest made of fox fur is an indicator of wealth and high taste. But what to do if the fur has deteriorated from old age, has become faded or dull. Or you accidentally stained the product, but you can’t get rid of the stain. In this case, you just need to recolor the fur and breathe new life into the clothes. And indeed, the painted fox looks new, as if you were pampering yourself with another expensive purchase.

We clean the fur before dyeing

In order for the paint to lie evenly, completely color the fur and not leave pale areas, the product must be cleaned. To do this, prepare a solution of the following ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of salt;
  • a tablespoon of ammonia;
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda;
  • a tablespoon of powder;
  • 2 liters of warm (not hot) water.

Mix all the ingredients and carefully apply the resulting mass to the fur. Sweep over the fur product with a brush. Make sure that not only the upper, but also the lower part of the fur is cleaned. After this, wipe the fur several times with a clean, damp cloth to wash off the soap composition from it. The skin on the back is called the mezra. If possible, it does not need to be wetted, otherwise it may shrink.

Dry the fur in natural conditions - no hair dryer and heater. Do not leave the fur product in direct sunlight. It is better to hang a fur coat or collar on a hanger and leave it in a well-ventilated place.

As you know, fur can be dyed in special workshops. But the price of such a service is quite high, besides, you will get an unexpected result. If you dye fox fur at home, you can independently control the process and, if necessary, influence it. So, how to transform a fur product?

  1. First you need to choose a paint. In hardware stores you can find special paint for fur. It is designed for a similar structure of wool and fits perfectly on the villi. If you have not found such a paint, you can use ordinary hair dye. Here you see a wide palette - from black to reddish chestnut. It is important to consider that you need to dye the fur in darker colors (relative to the native shade). Keep in mind that red fur will turn rusty or red over time, and black will take on a dirty brown hue.
  2. Dilute the paint according to the instructions. To do this, carefully observe all proportions and water temperature. Put on gloves and a respirator - inhaling paint fumes is quite harmful.
  3. Lubricate the mezdra with a fat baby cream, glycerin or petroleum jelly. This will protect the skin from drying out and also prevent it from getting too wet.
  4. You can paint a fur coat both in a dry and wet state. Therefore, painting usually follows the cleaning of the product - wet pile helps the paint lay down more softly. Take an ordinary brush with which hairdressers paint strands and apply paint to the fur. This must be done quickly, but carefully. Paint over all areas so that there are no light tufts left.
  5. To give the fur a special flavor, you can paint the product with several colors using a stencil. To do this, take a thick piece of cardboard and cut small asymmetrical holes on it. Attach the resulting stencil to the fur and paint the fur in certain areas with brown. The next step is to paint the center of the brown spots black. So you get a bright leopard color.
  6. Fur can be dyed not completely, but only its ends. So you get a rich and rich shade. Most often, the ends of the villi are made lighter.
  7. A great way to freshen up a product is to paint the ends of the fibers with a special paint for suede, which is sold in the form of an aerosol. Keep the can at a sufficiently large distance, move evenly. It is much easier and faster than classic fur dyeing.
  8. After that, leave the fur for the time indicated on the paint package. Usually 30 minutes is enough to get the desired shade.
  9. Rinse the fur product thoroughly so that no paint remains on it.
  10. In a couple of liters of cool water, dilute five tablespoons of vinegar. Rinse the product in this solution. Vinegar will help maintain softness and shine, as well as set the color. After that, blot the fur with a dry towel.
  11. So that the arctic fox does not shrink during drying, the core must be stretched. To do this, hook the edges of the product with clothespins and stretch it on the table. So you will not allow deformation.

You need to dry the fur in a ventilated room, you can on the balcony. In no case do not dry the fox under the sun, near the radiator or with a hair dryer. Comb the fur periodically to keep it from drying out randomly.

How to dye fox fur in a light shade

If the natural fox fur is already dark enough, and you do not want to dye it in a more saturated shade, it should first be discolored. This can be done with a special hair lightener or simple hydrogen peroxide.

Dilute the lightening paint according to the instructions. If you are using hydrogen peroxide, dilute it 1:3 with water. Apply the prepared product on the fur and leave for 10-15 minutes. Keeping the clarifying composition for a long time is not recommended, otherwise the villi may become brittle. In this case, you run the risk of being left without fur at all. After that, rinse the fur and leave to dry. It is possible to dye the fur after clarification only after the product has completely dried. Do not lighten and dye the fur several times. Once will be enough, otherwise you can irrevocably spoil the structure of the villi.

Do not rush to give up a boring or damaged fur thing. Ingenuity, imagination and a competent approach will allow you to update your winter products. Shine and change without changing yourself!
