Repair, design, furniture, construction, instructions. Job responsibilities of an agronomist Requirements for an agronomist

Agronomist(from Greek. agronomos, from agros- field and nómos - law) - an agricultural specialist with comprehensive knowledge in the field of growing and harvesting plants. The profession is suitable for those who are interested in biology (see choosing a profession for interest in school subjects).

Features of the profession

An agronomist is one of the key figures in an agricultural enterprise. The main task of the agronomist is the management of agricultural production and its improvement.

The farm can grow bread, vegetables, fruits, forage grasses, sunflowers, etc. - depending on the climate, soil, market demand. The agronomist determines which varieties are best grown, chooses which field work and at what time to carry out. For example, when growing cucumbers, he chooses the time for sowing seeds, planting seedlings in the field, watering, weeding and harvesting. He is in charge of all these processes.

Thanks to his knowledge, an agronomist can better than others assess the condition of the soil, understand whether plants are developing well. In submission to the agronomist - machine operators and field farmers. He organizes their work, training, timely assistance in case of difficulties. Labor productivity in the economy, and hence profitability, depends on this.

The beginnings of agronomy appeared when people began to domesticate wild plants. Cultivation advice is found in ancient written sources. The first known Russian agronomists were A. T. Bolotov (1738-1833) and I. M. Komov (1750-1792). They developed new methods for growing grain and vegetable crops, potatoes, flax and hemp and put them into practice.

Agronomists were greatly assisted by the works of famous Russian scientists. V. V. Dokuchaev (1846-1903) developed ways to restore and increase the fertility of chernozem, K. A. Timiryazev (1843-1920) studied the needs of plants for nutrients, D. N. Pryanishnikov (1865-1948) explained how plants absorb nitrogen, developed methods for applying nitrogen fertilizers. IV Michurin (1855-1935) developed new varieties of fruit and berry crops.

The agronomist closely monitors the yield and weather resistance of various varieties. Evaluates the effectiveness of methods of tillage, fertilizers. In other words, it conducts research and production work. This allows you to choose the best varieties and working methods in the future. However, agriculture is very dependent on the weather. And an experienced agronomist, when planning work, takes into account possible weather vagaries. This does not always work out: the risk of losing the crop increases both in rainy years and in drought years. If the lack of moisture can be dealt with to some extent with the help of irrigation systems, then prolonged rains and unexpected frosts require special measures.

Workplace

Agronomists work on state farms, collective farms, farms.

Salary as of 03/19/2020

Important qualities

An agronomist must be a responsible and proactive person, easy-going, capable of making emergency non-standard decisions. A creative attitude to work and observation, organizational skills are necessary.

Knowledge and skills

An agronomist must be able to organize the production of agricultural crops, understand the principles of crop rotation, fertilization, and other methods of agricultural technology, be able to organize seed production, obtain new varieties, and conduct scientific research.

To do this, you need to know general biology and botany, agriculture, crop production, agrochemistry, land reclamation, the basics of breeding and seed production, and the economics of the industry.

Statement of the problem in general. The agricultural sector plays an important role in the development of the Ukrainian economy, improving the quality of life of the country's population, providing high-quality environmentally friendly products, preserving the environment and rational use of natural resources. For Ukraine, agriculture is of particular importance, since it is one of the largest branches of the national economy. Therefore, the staffing of the agricultural sector is one of the urgent problems of the present.

Analysis of recent research and publications testifies that the problems of training personnel for the agricultural sector have recently been intensively studied by scientists, in particular, the following: the formation of educational and cognitive activity of students of agricultural universities (Luzan P. G.), the phased training of future mechanical engineers in agricultural production (Manko V. M. ), preparation of future specialists in the agricultural sector for management activities (Svistun V.I.), professional training of an agricultural specialist (Lozovetskaya V.T.), stage-by-stage training of future ecologists (Ridey N.M.), formation of a culture of professional communication between students of an agricultural university (Amelina S. M.), practical training of students of technical and technological specialties of agricultural universities (Khomenko M. P.), professional development of students of agricultural universities (Vygovskaya S. V.), training of future agricultural economists for professional information activities (Kornev R. S.), the formation of information and communication competence of future special socialists of agricultural specialties (Pakhotina P.K.), cultural training of future specialists in agrotechnological direction (Melnichuk T.F.), the formation of labor protection skills and abilities of students of agricultural universities (Zhdanova V.G.), the formation of managerial competence of future masters of forestry (Makodzey L. I.) and others. At the same time, the psychological component of the professional activity of agronomists was not considered in the noted studies.

Target to reveal the psychological component of the professional activity of agronomists.

Presentation of the main material. Agricultural products are produced with the help of living organisms. Since they develop according to biological laws, this predetermines the dependence of the production process on natural factors. Thus, farmers work in conditions of risk and uncertainty. In agriculture, the working period does not coincide with the period of production (obtaining finished products). As a result, there is a seasonality in production, which predetermines the performance of a significant amount of work in a short time with an uneven use of labor and means of production. In agriculture, the process of production management is much more complicated. This is due to: the dispersal of workers over a large area, and therefore the complexity of making operational decisions as a result of a change in the production situation; the need to make efforts to organize the preservation of own and rented property, grown crops; the need to attract seasonal labor during periods of agricultural work and the difficulties of managing it; an irregular work schedule for employees of agricultural enterprises as a result of the need to timely perform important technological operations in a short (optimal) time frame.

In accordance with the purpose of the study, we analyze the professional activities of agronomists. Agronomy in the modern sense combines the totality of sciences about growing plants at the lowest energy costs and at the same time increasing the productivity and quality of the crop, about soils and increasing their fertility, about the rational use of agricultural land.

The agronomic profession is represented by several specialties, in particular, it is agronomy, agrochemistry and soil science, horticulture and viticulture, plant protection, breeding and seed production. In farms that specialize in the cultivation of cereals, vegetables and other cultivated plants, agronomists play the main role. There are such agronomic positions: chief agronomist, seed agronomist, vegetable grower agronomist, agrochemist agronomist, plant protection agronomist, subdivision agronomists. The agronomist of the subdivision carries out planning, technological and organizational management of the implementation of measures for growing crops, harvesting, rational use of agricultural land, equipment, labor, agrochemicals and other material resources in agriculture. Predominantly the main department in the farms is the department of crop production, on which the production of grain, vegetables, fruits, etc. is concentrated. In some farms, such positions have been introduced as: agronomist for horticulture, vegetable growing, fodder production. Their responsibilities include technological and organizational and economic management in horticulture, vegetable growing, and fodder production.

The professional duties of an agronomist include taking care of improving the production agronomic culture, namely: observing crop rotations, a rational system of mechanical soil cultivation, timely application of organic and mineral fertilizers, reclamation work, systematic control of soil erosion, as well as weeds, pests and diseases. plants, compliance with the varietal technology of growing crops, field-protective afforestation and other activities that improve the culture of agriculture. The agronomist plans to carry out agricultural work, taking into account a large number of factors, in particular, the characteristics of the agronomic culture, weather conditions, and soil conditions. He observes the growth and development of plants, plans feeding, watering, weeding and other activities that allow you to achieve the highest possible yield; responsible for the protection of plants from pests and diseases, if necessary, is engaged in the treatment of plants; selects varieties that are most suitable for growing in specific conditions, is engaged in selection work.

It should be noted that agronomic specialists can work not only in agricultural farms, but also in control and seed laboratories, quarantine inspections and elevator and storage facilities, at breeding stations and variety plots, managers for plant protection, mineral fertilizers, for the sale of crop products; in educational institutions, agrochemical laboratories, agricultural production departments, design institutions (they take part in agrochemical and soil surveys, soil grading, in the development of projects for reclamation of low-fertile soils and fertilizer systems for cultivated plants). Modern agrarian education makes it possible to get the profession of agronomy researcher, agronomist-technologist, agroengineer, specialists who specialize in agronomic management, beet growing, fodder production, seed production, gardening and park management, etc. .

In view of the specifics of professional activity, an agronomist needs: well-developed exteroceptive (visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile) sensations and perception; savvy; flexibility, independence of thinking, practical visual-figurative thinking; the ability to analyze the causes of phenomena, to solve mental problems in diagnosing and predicting the long-term consequences of one's own actions; high level of development of concentration and distribution of attention; observation; a high level of development of long-term figurative (visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile) memory. An agronomist needs to be able to quickly make non-standard decisions in extreme situations; work under irregular schedule and in different weather conditions; creative attitude to work; be emotionally stable; responsible for the life and health of plants and people; organized, persistent, proactive, patient; have a high level of self-control; organizational and communication skills. Since the agronomist works in a team, he needs to build relationships with people, taking into account their age characteristics, interests, temperament and character, be able to set goals and motivate subordinates to perform their professional duties.

Findings. As a result of the analysis of the professional activity of agronomists, their professional duties and production functions, the potential of the profession in relation to employment, the psychological component of the professional activity of agronomists was identified and its significance was proved.
