“This guy has said so many things about me that he will do both to me. He didn't learn his lesson in Munich and this time I'll deal with him properly - without tripods and bottles," Haye said.

Fight with Tony Bellew
On March 4, 2017, he met with the world heavyweight champion Tony Belew. Haye took the first half of the fight, mainly due to activity. Bellew worked out surprisingly well in defense, dodging dangerous attacks in a timely manner, however, against the background of an aggressive opponent, Tony was lost and did not improve in order to take the rounds into the piggy bank. In the 6th round, the picture of the battle changed dramatically. Haye suffered an Achilles tendon injury and was knocked down by Bellew's punch. Haye got up and boxed for the rest of the fight with an injured leg, playing the role of the already receiving side. In the eleventh round, Haye, having missed several hits at the ropes, fell out of the ropes. He managed to return to the ring and take a vertical position before the end of the referee's count, but then David's seconds threw in the towel. After the fight ended, Haye was taken to the hospital.
