History of University

SSAU named after. Vavilova is one of the most prestigious agricultural higher education institutions in the Volga region. Higher agricultural courses were opened in Saratov back in 1913. Birth of the University

Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Management

The history of this faculty begins in 1922, when the reclamation faculty was opened on the basis of the Saratov Agricultural Institute. In 1956, he temporarily interrupted his work, resuming only in 1970. Then there was a need for hydromelioration specialists for the development of agriculture in the southeastern regions.

In its current form it has existed since 2009 at SSAU. Vavilova (Saratov). The faculties of environmental management, forestry and landscape construction were combined into one.

Saratov State Agrarian University named after N. I. Story

In May 1922 The Faculty of Agronomy separated from the State University and again became an institute. The first director of the institute was a biologist, professor V. R. Zalensky. At this time, such prominent scientists as A. I. Stelbut, A. P. Shekhurdin, E. M. Plachek, V. S. Bogdan, G. K. Meister, N. M. Tulaikov, Ya. Dadonov.

IN 1923 The reclamation faculty was opened. In this regard, the Saratov Agricultural Institute was renamed the Saratov Institute of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.

In the 30s XX century educational institutions such as the State Zootechnical and Veterinary Institute ( 1930) and the Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture ( 1932; on the basis of the Moscow Institute of Agricultural Engineering transferred to Saratov).

By Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of December 18, 1997 “On improving the system of vocational education in the Saratov region”, three higher educational institutions of agricultural profile - Saratov State Agricultural Engineering University, Saratov State Agricultural Academy named after. N. I. Vavilova and the Saratov State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology were merged into the Saratov State Agrarian University named after N. I. Vavilov.

B.Z. Dvorkin was chosen as the first rector of the merged university (April 1998). Died in 2003. In May 2003 N.I. Kuznetsov was elected rector of the university.

On April 10, 2018, meetings of the VIII International Youth Forum “Saratov State Agrarian University - an open experimental platform for creative youth” were held at the site of Management No. 1 of Saratov State Agrarian University.
The forum was organized under the patronage of S.V. Larionov. – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Saratov State Agrarian University named after. N.I. Vavilova"; Popova O.M. – Vice-Rector for Educational and Social Work of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Saratov State Agrarian University named after. N.I. Vavilova”, Hertsun N.V. - Head of the experimental department of the MKU “City Methodological Center”. Employees of the Faculty of Agronomy (Dean N.A.
